Venture Grade offers two academic courses through Saint Mary’s University: Venture Capital, an introductory course in venture capital; and Venture Grade, an applied course where students manage their own venture capital fund. Through a combination of due diligence process, fundraising, relationship building, and investing, these courses offer students an experiential learning opportunity that is second to none.
Venture Grade is the annual host to the Canadian Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC) held at Saint Mary’s University. Venture Grade also sends students to international competitions to venture capital hubs such as Boston and Silicon Valley. Students from Venture Grade have competed against and defeated teams from other esteemed universities such as Harvard, Yale, and MIT.
VENTURE GRADE FUND
At the core of everything is the actual Venture Grade fund. The fund is held in trust by Saint Mary’s University and follows the fiduciary guidelines of the University. Venture Grade is not only comprised of current students, but past students and graduates as well. It gives its associates a chance to be a part of the incredible venture capital ecosystem in Canada and abroad. Venture Grade also gives and receives additional support to donors, strategic partners, and investees.
